AWE DC launched October 15, 2017 and things couldn’t have gone better. I would like to send a special thank you to all the amazing women who came out to help kick things off. Being an entrepreneur comes with many challenges while being a woman entrepreneur comes with extra challenges.
My name is Tee and I am the Founder of Fashion at Ms. Tee. I am a fashion blogger and wardrobe stylist. My style of fashion blogging is a little unique. Ms. Tee is a fashion blog that covers fashion photo shoots and events. Along with blogger I work alongside with celebrity photographer Phelan Marc as a stylist-assistant, and I am currently growing the styling piece to my business. Starting and running a business can be challenging and lonely at times and having a group of amazing women to support you along the way makes things so much easier. We all would like to think we have it together and we have what it takes. But the truth is sometimes we fall apart and sometimes we run out of ideas and sometimes into a brick wall. I know first hand i’ve been there.
AWE is a place for women entrepreneurs to come together and provide support and networking for women entrepreneurs. When Karen approached me to head the DC chapter of AWE I did not think twice. Supporting women is something that I am passionate about. So often we hear it’s hard for us to work together, to support each, and to get along at it’s just not true. And, this is what AWE is about and I how could I not become apart of that.
The first meeting held in my home as I welcomed a group of eight awesome women entrepreneurs. During the first meeting Founders Karen Bate and Evelyn Powers introduced the women to AWE and spoke with them about the benefits and how AWE was started. Amongst the group where Ellen Bryan news anchor for WUSA9 and Domencia Tyler owner of The Chic Shack located on H Street NE Washington DC.
The DC AWE November meeting will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017. I am super excited about our November meeting. The meeting will be held at The Chic Shack and we have the honor of having Rosana Vollmerhausen Founder, Chief Stylist at DC Style Factory as our guest speaker. Hope to see you there.
